Can you make my site #1 on Google? Is probably the question I hear all the time. Today, Matt Cutts (who is a software engineer for Google) posted a video on YouTube for their Google Web Master Help channel and answers this question. Perhaps everyone who should watch this video.
I’m sure by now you’ve seen the Old Spice commercial with Isaiah Mustafa. If not, where have you been? This funny commercial shows how the Old Spice Man can do just about anything, from log rolling to cooking a gourmet cake in the kitchen he built with his own hands. He even performs an amazing swan dive all in one continuous shot. It’s quite brilliant, but the marketing team at Old Spice decided to step it up even further and have created a marketing phenomenon that has undoubtedly created one of the most beloved commercial characters in recent history.
I often hear people complaining about not getting enough traffic or loosing traffic to their website; after analyzing feedback from said people I’ve come up with the top 5 reasons this happens:
The online world has gone mobile, and everyone’s getting involved with the popular trend. Mobile Web browsers and smart phones have turned the mobile world into an entire universe of online sites and stops, advertising and extras. And now that everyone has embraced the mobile Internet, that means your website should, too. What is mobile SEO…and, do you know how to use it?
I love marketing, it makes people think outside the box to come out with creative ways to get your ideas across. Whether it’s selling a product or service, having a proper marketing plan is key to success. Which is what Domino’s Pizza has done with their latest marketing campaigns.
I’ve been to websites where all you see is positive feedback and only 5 star reviews on how great a product or service is. There is no doubt that small and large corporations filter negative feedback from actually making it to their website. However, Domino’s Pizza thinks otherwise.
These last couple of weeks I have been searching for a new car to buy, I am looking to get a 2010 BMW X5 Diesel. So of course, my search began with Google and typing “2010 BMW X5 35d”. I was pretty shocked to find out that my results rendered in articles from Motor Trend and other automotive E-magazine websites and not 1 local dealership showed up from an organic search result (with the exception of sponsored links).
Facebook fan pages are rapidly growing in popularity and it isn’t surprising considering the failure of many websites’ to accommodate conversations with customers. As a result of the inflexibility of many corporate sites, some brands have even begun pushing their Facebook pages over their own website.
Planning an effective internet marketing strategy can be difficult and confusing at times. I’ve seen a lot of web development companies and “SEO experts” that just pick and choose from this menu. Clients hear about the next big thing and want on-board regardless if they really need it or not. Today’s marketing mix has it’s own challenges. Blogs, YouTube Videos, RSS Feeds, Podcasts, it all sounds so yummy and delicious, just like fast food. But we all know what fast food leads to.
