5 REASONS TO HOLD OFF FROM BUYING AN IPHONE 4

Now that Apple has officially released their latest version of the iPhone, the biggest question is should you upgrade?  No doubt Apple clearly changed the way we use phones today and has pushed manufactures to develop better phones.  With excellent alternatives available today, here are 5 reasons you should consider before taking the plunge.

1. The iPhone is gorgeous, sleek and makes other phones look like a thing of the past.  However, early adopters have noticed major hardware issues.  Engadget has posted  issues regarding the “Retina Display” having yellow spots (Click here to read more about it) and that’s not all, Gizmodo has various videos of people showing that holding the antenna band will make you lose reception (Click here to read more about it).  Like all new items, the manufacturing process sometimes can take a few runs before getting it right.

2. No 4G, I was shocked to find out that new iPhone 4 was not on a 4G network.  We think it’s quite strange specially with the name iPhone 4, one would assume that the iPhone would be on a 4G network.  With

the HTC EVO4 already 4G capable and other carriers following suit, it seemed appropriate that Apple would have made that change specially since Steve Jobs has talked about moving on with the future and leaving the past behind which leads me to reason number 3.

3. No Flash support and probably never.  In Jobs’ now famous post, he argued that Adobe Flash was an outmoded approach to Web-based multimedia that was inappropriate to mobile devices.  Aside from the real reasons why Steve Jobs opted out to not support Flash, this can be a big turn off for most people as you get a condensed version of the web, or in some cases not even viewable at all.  If your looking for the full web experience this can be a huge turn off.

4. No more unlimited data plan, AT&T is no longer writing new contracts with unlimited flat rate data.  If you change carriers to come over to the iPhone 4.  Your going to have to pay new tiered pricing for data along with overage charges should you exceed your limit, and if that weren’t enough to steer you away.  AT&T is also charging $20/a month for tethering.  Which can get very expensive for those who use their laptop on a daily basis.

5. And perhaps the biggest reason is AT&T.  Not only have existing customers been begging to move to a much more stable and secure carrier like Verizon. There have been various rumors that Apple will someday make that switch, and although we all hoped that it was going to happen at this years 2010 WWDC conference.  it didn’t, but more rumors have been speculating that by the end of this year it may very well happen.  So before you sign that 2 year contract it might be best to just wait it out a little longer, that’s if your patient of course.

Now I know it may be hard to resist such a great piece of technology, and if you can see past these 5 reasons we can assure you that the iPhone is definitely one of the hottest phones available today.  Otherwise it may be worth the wait?  Who knows, we may hear of a new iPhone 4Gs coming by end of the year on Verizon network?
